The Phrygian mode is equivalent to the natural minor with a flat 2. Alternatively you can think of it as all of the white notes of a piano keyboard with the root being in on the E note, and thats exactly the key I’ve used for this particular backing track.
I’ve gone for a thumping metal riff this time. Its a very simple 4 bar sequence based in E Phrygian, with a very linear harmony. There are 3 bars of alternating E and F power chords, the 4th bar is an A then G power chord.
So get dust off your Metal Riffs and get shredding!
Enjoy!
